LINKPlanner v4.7.0 Now Available

A new release of the LINKPlanner is available from https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/linkplanner

The key features of V4.7.0 are:

New or changed features

  • PTP 550
    • Introduced PTP 550 in non-DFS regions

This release adds a new product PTP 550 to the Cambium portfolio, which is based on 802.11ac Wave 2 and operating in the 5.1 to 5.9 GHz bands. This release only supports bands in countries which do not require DFS. This product is a dual channel solution and will support both 1+0 and 2+0 link configurations, which introduces new functionality into LINKPlanner in the unlicensed band.

  • ePMP
    • Added 2.5 GHz for Force 200 and added Australia and New Zealand to ePMP 1000
    • Added Myanmar at 2.4 and 5.8 GHz
    • Updated channel plans to ensure contiguous channels across bands in some regulations.

This will allow some additional channels to be available in some bands

 

  • Updated capacity algorithm with introduction of 802.11ac products and changed from UDP to Ethernet throughput rates.

This change will show a small increase in throughput for existing ePMP based products.

 

  • Increased maximum antenna gain to 41 dBi to match changes in product.

This change will allow additional antenna options for larger antennas in the PTP and SM antenna selection list.

 

  • PTP820
    • Added 26 GHz FCC to PTP 820S
    • Added 56 MHz bandwidth to 15 GHz NTIA
    • Added 2+2 and 4+0 options to PTP 820C NTIA
    • Added support for Radiowaves antennas in Canada and Radiowave conversion kit
    • Modified RFU-A Branching drawer part numbers and added Radio Flange Adaptors.

Each RFU-A sub-band branching drawer now has its own unique part number rather than having a generic part number for a style of branching drawer, with a separate model number shown in the Notes. This affects Lower 6 GHz, Upper 6 GHz and 11 GHz, the 7 GHz RFU-A will be added in the next release.

 

  • Extended frequency range support for Upper 6 GHz ETSI on PTP 820S

This may show a small change in performance for all PTP 820 links in the Upper 6 GHz band, which do not have specific frequencies selected.

 

  • PMP 450 family
    • Updated PMP 450b FCC Regulations

Increases transmit power available in 4.9 GHz band and adds band edge back-offs to 5.2 and 5.4 GHz at 40 MHz bandwidth

 

  • Added support for PMP 450b Adjacent Channel requirements

This option is now available on all PMP 450 family Access Points in the 5 GHz band, but will only affect PMP 450b Subscriber Modules. Select this option if using PMP 450b SMs and using adjacent channels on the same site.

 

  • Updated PMP 450m warranties
  • Retired PMP 450 AP at 3.5 and 3.6 GHz – replaced by PMP 450i

Please select PMP 450i at the AP to plan new 3 GHz PMP networks

NOTE: PMP 450 SMs are incorrectly also shown as retired. These products are still available. This error will be fixed in the next release

 

  • cnPilot
    • Added R190 to BOM Estimator and updated warranties
  • PTP 650/670/700
    • Added support for different PTP 700 products at each end of a PTP link

This change allows a PTP 700 C+I at one end of the link and a PTP 700 C-Only at the other end of the link. When PTP 700 is selected an additional remote product option is shown, which only supports the two PTP 700 product options.

  • Added additional single polarization antennas

New single polarization antennas are now included for 2, 4, 6 and 8 ft

 

  • Added omni antennas to HCMP in 4 and 5 GHz bands

These antennas are only recommended for use with SMs that are within ±10° elevation angle from the horizontal. LINKPlanner will not predict performance for SMs outside of this angle range as the potential gain from the antenna is very variable (and also below 0 dBi).

 

  • Retired PTP 650

These products are still available in LINKPlanner to plan or view existing plans, however the products are no longer available for purchase.

 

  • Updated Malaysia regulation following Type Approval
  • Changed 4.9 GHz Japan to In Service for PTP 670
  • Added 5.1 GHz United States to PTP 670 HCMP
  • PTP 800/810
    • Retired all PTP 800/810 frequency bands

  • General
    • Added a default SM Interference level at the AP for PMP products

This new option allows users to quickly add the same level of interference to all SMs on an AP. When this option is selected, all SMs will show the same level of interference. It can be over-ridden for individual SMs by changing the level on the SM. The interference on an individual SM cannot be disabled when the default value is set for all, but setting the level to -120 dBm on an individual SM will reduce the level of the interference such that it has no impact on the link.

  • Improved Best Server analysis to consider a minimum uplink mode as well as the downlink and to include notification of Out of Range SMs in the results table.

The Best Server algorithm will now ensure that at least the minimum uplink modulation mode is achievable when determining the required antenna. SMs that are Out of Range (OOR) as well as those Not Meeting Requirements will now be displayed in the results table so that the status of all SMs analysed can be seen in the table. Sorting the by Selected AP (click on Selected AP) will quickly show those SMs which cannot be connected.

 

  • Prevented PTP links from creating a default equipment template automatically and warn users if a default template contains a retired product.

This change prevents templates from being created unless requested by the user and hence over-riding changes to the inbuilt defaults, which are updated as products go obsolete. If an old project has a template, which is being used as the default and also contains an obsolete product, it will show a warning to the user when the project is opened. The user then has the opportunity to delete the template if it is no longer required.

  • Added warranties to CMM5
  • Updated custom PMP antennas to allow them to be available to multiple products.

Multiple products can now be selected when a user defines a new antenna, such that an antenna can be included for a product family (or multiple families).

  • Improved the PMP Hub level reports to include a summary of the number of APs, connected subscribers and throughput at the site level.

The Hub Summary now shows the number of Access Points, connected subscribers and those that have been excluded (either due to performance or rules) and the total throughput at the hub site. This information is available in both the proposal and installation reports.

Bug Fixes

  • Reduced number of surge suppressors to 1 per Subscriber Module

This only affects PMP 450 SM and PMP 450d SM

  • Corrected PTP 670/700 HCMP AP Cambium Antenna Gain

This adds an extra 0.8 dB of cable loss for the fixed cables to the N-type connectors.

  • Corrected issues with 24 GHz Frequency selection

The ETSI with Any T/R spacing was not respecting the required minimum T/R separations between the highest Lo frequency and lowest Hi frequency in 2+0 configurations

 

  • Corrected issues when duplicating channel plans

This may result in channel plans changing when a project is opened, if the channel plan is changed after duplicating then it may result in a channel being removed from an AP, however if the duplicate channel plan has the same product, frequency band and bandwidth, but different channels, then it may result in an AP changing channel. Please confirm that the channel plan is correct.

 

  • Allowed support for 80 MHz on 2+0 SD links for PTP 820C Narrow

Added missing 80 MHz bandwidth option on 2+0 SD links when using the “Narrow” radio option.

 

  • Prevented PTP 820C 4+0 XPIC from allowing multiple sub-bands in frequency selection

PTP 820C 4+0 XPIC was not correctly limiting the frequency choices to within the same sub-band radios.

  • Fixed error on product modes when Reflection Mitigation is selected and a restricted list of modes has been configured

LINKPlanner was generating an Unexpected Error when using Reflection Mitigation with a reduced list of modulation modes, due to a mismatch on mode selection. This has now been corrected.

  • Removed restriction on available modes for PTP 820 NTIA regulations

Some NTIA bands and bandwidths were not offering a full set of modulation modes. This mostly affected fixed modes and 8 PSK or 256 QAM. All modulation modes are now available in accordance with the product release notes.

  • Prevented errors on 2+0 ODU selection due to partial frequency selection

LINKPlanner will now require either all frequencies or no frequencies to be selected in the Transmit Frequency window. The OK button will not be available when only some of the channels are selected. This prevents issues with the “Add default ODUs” option, which was generating incorrect options in the BOM with a partial frequency selection.
