Prediction Model

I was wondering what the difference is between ITU-R and Vigants-Barnett prediction models. Is one more accurate than the other? Is there a preferred model to use in the United States?

Thanks!

In the United States, our public safety customers prefer that we use Vigants-Barnett, because it is more "conservative".

The predicted availability depends upon locationĀ and link length, among other things. There are large areas of the US where the ITU-R and Vigants-Barnett predictions are pretty similar. For longer links, Vigants-Barnett tends to be more "conservative".
