PMP 450i 3.5 Ghz

Hi, I’m trying to update a PMP450i 3.5 from 14.3 AP-none to 15.0.3 I.m using the most recent CNU 4.10.5 and the program said INVALID FILE IMAGE (STATUS 211) also I tried whit 15.0.1 and 15.0.0.1 and don’t t work either please help me to upgrade this AP Thank you

Hello Avalderrama,

15.0.3 is not supported for 3 GHz 450i hardware. First software supported for 3 GHz 450i will be 15.1.

15.1 Beta build is available to download if you are enrolled in the Beta program.

We will be also releasing official 15.1 by end of this week. We apologise for the confusion.

Thanks

how have you found the performance of the 450i? is it on par with the  PMP450?

The 450i has a much faster processor. The RF performance is also a step ahead of the original 450 AP due to the 450i's Rx filter and I would also guess that the Tx is a bit cleaner and more stable. That's exactly what the "i" means... improved.

While it does have a faster processor that translates to higher PPS, and being able to push more mbps at larger channels widths then the orignal 450... it doesn't have the filtering incorporated like the 5GHz PMP450i. In real world performance testing I've only seen about 1dB gain/iimprovement over the original 450.

So unless you're planning on using larger channel widths then 20MHz... the 3.65 PMP450i is really no better then the original PMP450. There may be some CBRS benefits to using the new PMP450i AP... but that remains to be seen.

PS... also... the "I' stands for 'Industrial' :-)

that's a shame the last webinar i watched said it was 3 dbm.

Have you had any of the PMP450's fail? we have had 3 fail in the last 2 months due to water damage and they have only been on the towers for 2 years. It looks to be caused by the poor location of the bottom seam being right on a drip edge and causing a ice buildup in the seal. I have pictures of where you can see where the water has come through. We are replacing going to replace some of AP's with a 450i before  the next winter on the towers that are in the area's of high ice buildup.

FYI -

Just tried to update a 450i  3.65 PMP and it kepted rebooting every 15 to 20 secs. These units shipped with a special version 14.3. At least the recorvery mode worked to get back to 14.3. log below and have case open with support.

Robert,

I believe you've been in contact with customer support, so you probably already know what caused your issue.  Just so anyone else reading this thread is up to date, we have found an issue where 450i or 450m radios would experience a stack dump and reboot when either of the following features is enabled, and packets to be filtered reach the radio:

1) IP Access Filtering

2) Ethernet Access Filtering (Ethernet Link disabled under General Settings)

In both cases, a filtered packet is what leads to the crash you were seeing. We will be updating the 15.1 release page to indicate this. Just to clarify, this is not limited to 3GHz radios, and would be present on all 450i and 450m hardware.

The issue has already been fixed and should be available in the upcoming 15.1.1 release and later.

Thanks for pointing this one out to us, and we apologize for any problems it caused.

Thanks Al

Been working through it with Dhaval and support. Let me know if you need me to test out the new release.

Yesterday we have activate a new PMP 450i and upgraded with 15.1 with no SM's connected.

At the first SM (with 14.2.1 installed) connected the AP reboot with a Reset due Fatal Error message in the event log.

Every time the SM connect to the AP, it reboot with the same error.

We have disable the installation color code, downgraded to the 14.2.1 and no more issues...

I think is the same Robert's problem because we use the Ethernet Access Filtering on the AP
