DHCP server on PTP650

Hi,

We have DHCP server on our headquarter and we would like to assign IPs on another office such as computers or printers by using PTP connection.

Is it possible?

how?

PLease help

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The PTP 650 data service is transparent to most types of data traffic, including DHCP. If you connect two network segments using the PTP 650, it should be possible for DHCP clients on one side of the wireless link to obtain a network address from a DHCP server on the other side of the wireless link. The PTP 650 will not block DHCP any more than a standard Ethernet switch.

Note that PTP 650 does not contain a DHCP server or client, so the network address for the management agent in the PTP 650 ODUs must be configured statically, and must not overlap with the range granted using DHCP.

I hope this helps.

Mark

Hi,

Similar to PTP 650, the Force 200 is transparent as well, including DHCP traffic. However, there is one difference. By default, the Force 200 SM/Slave does not allow DHCP requests to be sent to a DHCP server connected below it (ethernet side of the SM/Slave). You can override this by enabling Configuration > Network > Advanced > DHCP Server Below SM. Once this done, DHCP requests can be sent in either direction of the Force 200 link.

Thanks,
