Hardware differences between PTP 670 and PTP 650

PTP 670 hardware adds the following significant hardware upgrades on top of the existing PTP 650 product:

  • 100% increase in the size of the programmable logic array (FPGA)
  • 100% increase in the amount of memory accessible by the FPGA and the DSP
  • Interface circuits supporting the one pulse-per-second (1 PPS) signal from the CMM5 to provide TDD Sychronization without the PTP-SYNC unit

The additional FPGA and memory resources in PTP 670 will be used to support some exciting new features in future system releases. One important case in point is the High Capacity MultiPoint (HCMP) feature that is presently only supported in PTP 700.

The current System Release PTP 670-02-00 already provides some new firmware features that are not provided by PTP 650. See the Release Notes for 670-02-00 here: https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/ptp670/
