This photo is of a PTP600, one of a half dozen along with many other components, that was destroyed by a lightning hit. In this case the owner / operator did everything correctly, however it appears that the tower structure was not properly portected when it was constructed. The important take away is that lighting protection includes all of the elements, including the mounting structures.
