PTP300/500 ALTERNATIVE POWER SUPPLY UNIT

Hi,

We still have many running PTP300/500 models running on the field. Clients are asking with the availability of the supplied PIDU+ unit replacement.

Is there any alternative power we can use other than the PIDU+ PSU using AC as the mode or source of power.

Regards and more power,

Gerry

Gerry, the WB3025H is the model number for the spare power supply.  There are limited quantities of these available.

The alternative is to use the AC+DC Power Injector used with the PTP 670.  The model numbers are below.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  This supply is not an exact replacement as it does not have a recovery mode reset switch which is required to place a PTP 300/500/600 into recovery mode. However, it will function properly as a power injector.

Thanks Bruce!

Hi Bruce,

Can you confirm also that PTP650 AC+DC injector can also be use as an alternative PSU for PTP300/500, instead of using PTP670 PSU.

Thank you for the usual support!

Regards,

Gerry

Hi Gerry, the PTP 650 and PTP 670 both use that same AC+DC Power Injector model listed earlier in this thread.

So any of those will work (Rev A, B, or C) with a PTP 500 or 600 keeping in mind the earlier caveat that the AC+DC Power Injectors do not have the factory recovery reset switch.

Hi Bruce,

On the other hand, can we use PTP300/500/600 PIDU Plus to replace PTP650/670 AC+DC supply as well? You find this question not relevant, but, it is true we have a client owning PIDU Plus units and in need to replace their AC only (PTP650 PSU) as it fails for some time using PIDU Plus instead.

Thanks again,

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

this isn't a recommended or officially supported configuration but will likely work.  Do not do this with a device being powered from the PTP 650 AUX port.  Also, in this configuration the factory recover switch won't work and might be mis-leading to the next person looking at the installation or the PIDU Plus.
