Claiming the WiFi Devices using Claim First AP, AP Groups and Site Dashboard options from cnMaestro

This document explains about how to change the cnMaestro Account type based on the type of devices managed in the account. Also it explains about the Claim your First WiFi AP feature and Claiming the wifi devices from AP Group as well as from Site Dashboard. These  features are available from 1.4.0 Release onwards. These features help the user with ease of management and deployment.

1) Account Settings :-

In order to change the Account type , navigate to Manage->Settings and under the Account Type select
1) Access and BackHaul type if there are Backhaul devices(ePMP/PMP) as well as Wifi Devices(cnPilot E and R series) OR
2) Wireless LAN Account Type if there are only wifi devices(cnPilot E series) being managed by cnMaestro Account

2) Claim Your First WiFi AP :-

Irrespective of the Account type in order to make the wifi AP deployment easy from cnMaestro from release 1.4.0 Claim your First WiFi AP is introduced.
In Access and Backhaul account type navigate to WiFi AP Group Tree view and you can see the button for claiming your first wifi AP.
In WiFi account type by default the WiFi AP Groups tree view will be launched where you can see the button for claiming your first wifi AP.

This button will be shown only for the First Single device claim and will not be shown for consecutive claims . The consecutive claims can be done from the AP Group or Site Dashboard right Click Menu options and these options support multiple devices claim. Also this button will be reenabled if the single wifi device is unclaimed or there are no devices in the account at all.

The Claim Your First WiFi AP Process is as follows,

1) Click on the Claim Your First WiFi AP button.
2) Popup dialog with the AP MSN field will appear.

3) Specify the AP MSN and click Next after the Popup dialog successfully claimed. In case if the device is already claimed or if the user tries to claim Backhaul Devices and cnPilot R series devices the popup dialog will throw error indicating that the cnPilot E series devices only can be claimed.
4) Once next is clicked in the First popup dialog , the second page with the basic default configuration will appear which contains the parameters like Country Code, WLAN SSID and WLAN PassPhrase will be there. These basic parameters are pulled from the Default Enterprise AP Group created during Account Creation.


5) By default the country code will be set to the country code given during the cnMaestro Account creation. WLAN SSID will be by default cnPilot for both the radios(2.4 and 5 GHz) and the WLAN Passphrase is cambium123 with the WPA2-PSK security Mode
6) User can click next with or without changing the default parameters. If the parameters are changed by user as needed they will be reflect in the default Enterprise AP Group as well
7) In the final page the status of the device claim and default config push will be shown.

8) Once config push is successful the device will be shown under the default Eterprise AP Group under the WiFi AP Group Tree View.

3) Claiming the WiFi devices from AP Group :-

In order to claim multiple devices from the AP Group , navigate to the WiFi AP Groups tree view and select the

AP Group under which the devices needs to be claimed.
Select the claim devices option from the right click menu of the AP Group.
In the popup dialog that appears user can select the Network and Site under which these devices needs to be placed and by default the devices claimed under this group will have the config settings from this AP Group.
Also user can specify the MSNs of the devices in new line or comma seperated or the user can use the Import CSV option to import the MSNs of the devices.
Finally Click Claim Devices and the devices will be claimed under the selected AP Group with the configuration applied.

Note :- In cnMaestro On Premises server the procedure is same as mentioned above for Cloud , but the only difference is instead of MSN user has to use the Device MAC addresses.
Also in Cloud user can claim only cnPilot Enterprise devices where as in On Premises user can also claim the ePMP HotSpot devices using this procedure.


4) Claiming the WiFi devices from Site Dashboard:-

In order to claim multiple devices from the site Dashboard, navigate to the Networks tree view and select the Site Dashboard under which the devices needs to be claimed.
Select the claim devices option from the right click menu of the Site.
In the popup dialog that appears user can select the AP Group that needs to be applied for cnPilot E and R series devices. The devices claimed under this site will have the config settings from the selected AP Group.
Also user can specify the MSNs of the devices in new line or comma seperated or the user can use the Import CSV option to import the MSNs of the devices.
Finally Click Claim Devices and the devices will be claimed under the selected AP Group with the configuration applied.
