RF Recommendations:
- Mesh device should be visible at a RSSI of -65dBm or SNR of 30dB
- Do outdoor Wi-Fi site survey.
- Air-magnet site survey pro or Ekahau 8.7.0 are recommended tools for Wi-Fi site survey
- Deployment Recommendations:
- Mesh devices should be deployed at same height from the ground and Line of Sight [LOS]
- Do not mount the devices on a metal pole blocking entire antenna.
- Mesh devices, which are in access mode are mounted at a height 20 feet from the ground and can extend upto maximum of 25 feet.
-
Technical Recommendations:
- Create a Mesh link on 5GHz
- Separate Mesh control traffic from wireless user traffic. i.e, assign different VLAN for Mesh and wireless WLAN profile.
- It is not recommended to put more than 3 hops as every hop reduces the throughput by 50%.
- Distance covered by a mesh link can be extended to a maximum of 600 feet in LOS with zero interference.
- Avoid multicast traffic on mesh link by enabling “DROP Multicast” feature supported by cnPilot devices.
- Configure recommended wireless ACL as described in the link below:
