E430W - Hard reset prevention

The E430W wall-mount AP is designed for hospitality use. That means it can be situated in the hotel rooms close to the client. The problem is if the device is close to the client, how to prevent the client from hard resetting the device (via the reset button)?

A hard-reset-ignore option is currently not present. However: the recommended deployment model is to manage the APs from cnMaestro (either cloud or on-premises) and install them through zero-touch. In this case the AP will automatically discover cnMaestro and download its configuration (with auto-sync enabled). So even if the AP is reset to factory default, it will go through the same process of discovery of cnMaestro followed by a configuration update.

Good post. Also remember that the AP is usually installed under the desk or other place not too visible. So the likelihood of someone resetting is fairly low. I was a PLM at Motorola years ago and worked on several wall plate devices. We used to worry about this but after several hundred thousand devices installed, it wasn’t a problem
