Video contest: PTP Demanding Installations

So I decided to give this a go. I think PNG qualifies for "demanding installations". Our issues range from crazy weather, site access issues (local villagers decide to hold the tower/equipment to ransom to get money) through to a corrupt regulator that sells licenced spectrum to the highest bidder! Welcome to PNG.

Hi Hux,

Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing! PNG is a beautiful place once you look past all the challenges you described. We're so glad Cambium gives you and your business an edge.

Thanks,

Sriram

Hi Hux,

This is a great story. Thank you for all the details on how it fits your unique environment.

What happened to that tower’s foot? O.O

Thanks Sriram and Ray. Its an amazing country to work in, but certainly not without its issues. I have only just got my drone, would have liked to do more footage with it but maybe next time.

What a great place to put the Force 180. I guess all the radios are running off the solar panels?

I do like these drone video's, I'm amazed at the stability and resolution of the pictures!

Hi All,

NO LINK NO CONCERT !!!!

We just wanted to share our experience with the PTP 650.  We know we can always count on Cambium products for a fast and reliable solution. This is was a 10 mile link from downtown Fort Wayne, IN to a farm in New Heaven. We had some path obstructions and still we were able to deliver a great service.

The challenge of this link .... This needed to be planned, deployed and tested just with one weeks notice before the Luke Bryan concert.  This requiered local resources to help provide a 50 ft pole onsite, and search for a location with available bandwidth. This provided service to the security and emergency vehicles onsite during the concert.

Thanks to all the Frontier teams that help make this possible.

Enjoy a VERY demanding PTP installation. Constant weather changes, active open pit mining, moving mobile equipment and pit locations.

In the video, you can see our PTP 600 installed on our inhouse designed and built semi mobile tower that also houses an Axis camera and IAP for our meshing dispatch radio system. It is all powered by the solar panels. We designed this tower so we can reposition it around our active open pit to maintain our backhaul link for our dispatch system and live video feed to monitor the active open pit mining operations.

Sorry for the noise, but it was really windy this morning right after a night of rain, ice and snow that rolled through our area.

Nathan,

Do you see any interference from the Drone, which I guess is also in 5GHz.  Can you see it on the Spectrum manager?

Andy

Actually the Drone operates in 2.4Ghz and I was very worried about losing connection to the drone because of a competitors 2.4Ghz deployment on that same tower.  But, all was good fortunately.  I was worried about hitting the guy wires because you really can't fly and look in the camera and be aware of the guy wires at the same time.

Cute dogs
