Does anyone have any field results for 4600 deployed in Canada?
Define results you mean by?
Anything really, how has the AP and SMs performed on 80 and 160mhz channels? Anyone using TDD? How many clients on an AP and how is it performing with said amounts of clients? Is anyone using 6GHz PtP, if so how is that performing and is anyone using 160mhz for backhaul?
We were beta testing in the field with it originally last year when we deployed them in a PtMP enviroment they perform very well at the moment. We were only allowed to use 160mhz channels with the temporary license in Canada. As of now we’ve installed about 4 AP’s per tower we own 4 Towers in our community as of June 2024. When we were beta testing we had about 15 per Ap in some areas’s the users that migrated from the F300 series to the 4625’s it was night and day for some of those households as they had 6-8 people per home in some of these areas.
As for 6GhZ in PtP we’ve only used the 4625’s in PTP mode they ran fine for two links which seemed fine and they performed well. Your still stuck on the SM’s at 1GB for the link but it is handy for short shots or deployments.
We did use it in a 80mhz backhaul and a 160mhz backhaul they performed great. You can get away with a little but of NLOS but not much the radios handle themselves well even if your on the end lobes of the stock antenna’s. We only have one 4500 Ap deployed but so far it seems to be good for the 15 clients we migrated to the new AP. They do weigh and take up more space on your tower load though so we may only buy a few more of these but they perform well btu we’ve only had this one up for a week and a half so far.
The overall experience from users and myself have been all positive and alot of them like the reduced latency for games, streaming is alot better for homes as I stated some of our homes have 6-8 users per household and running anything from gaming too streaming and downloading.
Mind you there is no QoS on the 6GHZ currently but we use Cambiums QoE appliance for all our deployments and its been working well with the new and old gear on our towers. You are going to like having more of the bandwidth and the power of the new radios. If you have more questions feel free to ask were happy with our deployment thus far!
(Mind my grammar a bit i’m not perfect)
Thank you very much for your reply and appreciate your comments. I am looking forward in deploying the 6ghz!
Do you have advice for upper or lower 6ghz in the cambium link planner? I am working on a deployment that I would like to use 4600c with 3ft radiowave dishes but when I choose the upper in linkplanner I cannot use said antennas. If I choose the lower no problem, in the AFC tool I have not issues on either end of the spectrum and can use 36db spectrum wide.
