5.4AP operated at 5.7, what can you say?

Have you guys tried 5.4 configured to 5.7 using configuration.html, what can you say?

Does it work like the usual 5.7?

I would say you are modifing the software to operate outside it’s given regulatory domain.

But hey, if you want a power limited 5.7 AP, more “power” to you!

Whats the difference?

The difference in the Bands is EIRP of 36 vs 30 in most regulation areas.

So a 5.4 radio has a fixed limitation of 30dB EIRP and the 5.7 is 36dB at the AP for Point to Multipoint.

Hacking a 5.4 radio to work in 5.7 might provide less power output.

And it’s not certified for that band so you might get some dirty RF if the components aren’t exactly the same between the two.

Even if the components are the same, they haven’t been tested to see if they are actually clean in channels out of band either…

@ginovilla:

So do you mean 5.4 operated at 5.7 can have the same power dbi?

Sorry, was thinking of the LastMileGear Cyclones that use the full 36dB EIRP.
