Since the MU-MIMO and beamforming features aren’t currently operational for ePMP 4600 4x4 radios, IsoHorns is developing a 4x4 antenna solution to provide WISPs with an upgrade path. Initially, this involves aiming the WB6-A90 horns perpendicular to each other and using split sector mode with the two 2x2 sectors. When the two horns are positioned perpendicularly, they create two distinct 90° sectors for 180° coverage.
Later, when beamforming and MU-MIMO are complete (or today with the ePMP 3000 4x4), WISPs can align the Wideband 6 GHz Asymmetrical 90° Horn Antennas in parallel to utilize them in MU-MIMO mode, allowing the beams to interact in ways that constructively and destructively interfere. This creates beam patterns that group subscribers, enabling simultaneous signal transmission to multiple subscribers at once.
Additionally, this horn array can support two ePMP 4600L 2x2 radios operating on separate channels with GPS synchronization. If using a single ePMP 4600 4x4 radio in split sector mode, both antennas will operate on the same channel and do not necessarily require GPS sync since they are linked to the same radio.
The WB6-A90 is a wideband horn operating from 4.9 to 7.2 GHz, and this horn array will work with ePMP 3000 and ePMP 4500 radios on 5 GHz as well.
