900AP speed and bandwidth

Can someone help me with how downlink % and QoS setting in the 900 AP affect the speed at a SM?

Thanks
Richard

The 900AP has roughly 4 Mbps aggregate of useable throughput. Setting this setting for example to 75%, should provide 3 Mbps DL, 1 Mbps UL to the SM. The QoS setting in the AP takes priority over the QoS setting in the SM. If you set this on the AP, this will sepecify the max data rate and burst for each SM that is registered to the AP. Depending on the application normally this setting on the AP is left as default, and you will want to adjust the QoS setting on the SM based on your tiered services.

In addition to this, something that is commonly misunderstood is the “Burst” setting. This is not a speed, but rather an amount that the SM can transmit or receive at full air rate before falling back to the sustained rates. The manual covers this in more detail if you want to know more about the bucket mechanism, etc.

we have our radios set to 79% DL and a max range of 9 miles… this seem to have given us about 300k extra performance… not much but every little bit helps

Mgthump,

At what distance is your furthest out customer? Just curious.

Thanks,
