AP's rebooting after 2.6 software

I have been running the 2.6 software for about 4 days and I am having problems with multiple gps AP's rebooting.  I am getting this in the sys logs.

100Park_ePMP03 syslog: PAM _pam_init_handlers: no default config /etc/pam.d/other
Park_ePMP02 kernel: tdd_ratectrl_stat_add: suspicious ARQ statistic, ARQ fn = 32856, RA last FN = 0

What does this mean?

Thanks,

Hi Matt,

Can you please dump the crash logs and send it to us. Also the MAC address of your APs. You can dump the crash logs from CLI by typing "debug crashlog".

There is currently an ongoing issue with DDR timing under cold temperatures where the radio reboots. We have a temporary fix firmware here: goo.gl/4TpMif

Thanks,

Sriram

Thanks,

Where should I send this information to?

Matt,

Please send it to me at sriram@cambiumnetworks.com

Thanks,

Sriram

I'm having a similar message, my ap with GPS sends me this message.

Jan 21 14:30:59 AP syslog Las Palmas: PAM _pam_init_handlers: no default config /etc/pam.d/other
Jan 21 15:04:18 AP syslog Las Palmas: PAM _pam_init_handlers: no default config /etc/pam.d/other

in the message above explain your file to enter the radio, I have to put the two on the radio?

Upgraded all units to the 2.6 Firmware and see it as well.  Seems like all of them so far.  Probably more bugs...

Hello,

The PAM error should not cause reboots. You can find more info in this thread: http://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t5/ePMP-Beta/Looking-for-Pam-in-all-the-wrong-places/m-p/48123#U48123

Hope that helps

I can not access the link, I get that I have privileges

No problem, including the reply regarding this error here...

-------------------------------------------

We investigated this issue and this message occurs because as the error message indicates there is no default config at /etc/pam.d/other.  In 2.7.0 we will make sure this file is in place and this message will no longer be created and cluttering up the logs.  There is no negative affect on PAM functionality (i.e. user authentication at the device using RADIUS) with this message.

I still have an AP rebooting after upgrading to 2.6.1 RC1. If the AP is on 2.4.3 then it does not reboot.  The AP is a 5GHz connectorized with sync. MAC address 00:04:56:C5:01:4c.

I've found that 2.4.3 is the last good firmware ,to the point i consider it a stable release, and everything since has been a release candidate. I have around 50 APs deployed and several hundred customers so I think I have a pretty good testbed, and 2.4.3 is the only firmware that runs reliably in a variety of noisefloors and distances.

Hi David,

Can you please send me the crash logs at sriram@cambiumnetworks.com?

You can get the crash logs by ssh'ing into the CLI and then typing "debug crashlog".

Thanks,

Sriram

Sriram since you are needing 2.6 crash logs, i loaded 2.6 on an AP earlier today, it crashed tonight here is the crashlog.

<0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

Hi Tom,

That is known issue and it is already fixed in next release branch.

Multicast TCP packets causing reboot.

Fix will be available in next FW release.

Sorry for inconveniences.

I have to say, I'm really disappointed with the firmware rollouts that have been happening lately.  I'm trying to get a new deployment up and running and keep having issues.  Some of these have been addressed in updated firmware while new ones are created.  I guess from the sounds of things, I should go back to 2.4.3 and wait for someone else to beta test the new releases.  I think Cambium really needs to look at their software quality control and testing philosophies.  Very frustrating.

Hi rpmiller,

Sorry for the trouble this is causing you. We have been adding a lot of features to ePMP in a rapid fashion to make the system more flexible and provide more options to our customers. Adding features rapidly increases the complexity of the system. This particular crash above is something that was caught in our own testing and we have listed it as an open issue in our Release 2.6.1 release notes.  But root causing and fixing it has been a challenge and we just couldn't get the fix into the 2.6.1 release in time for the public release. As Fedor indicated above we fully intented to make this fix available in the very next release.

Quality has always been and continues to be our top priority despite having to rapidly roll out new features and product variations in the ePMP family of products. Once again, I apologize for the trouble caused and we certainly appreciate having you as our customer.

Thanks,

Sriram

I too had an AP that was just deployed to an existing tower that started re-booting right after deployment.  Had 8 clients connected to it first day.  Running 2.6.1.  We were told that the reboot was a known documented issue (like above in this thread) and that it was causd by the client radio doing something.   We deployed another AP to the tower today, took the 3 weakest clients and moved them to the new AP, I figured at least now only the AP with the problematic client would reboot.  Boy was I surprised when both APs reboot at the exact same time now.  To the second....   then they run for a while - then boom - again at the exact same time they both reboot.  LOL my plan sure didn't work, but I am glad I am able to provide  support information so that this can get fixed.  Kinda hard to replace Ubiquiti gear with Cambium gear when the UBNT equipment been running for years without issue then the ePMP won't even run without rebooting.  Don't get me wrong, I know I am heading in the right direction, I just didn't expect the results I am seeing.  I very much look forward to this being fixed so I can continue a trouble-free roll-out of the Cambium gear replacing the UBNT gear.

Here is the million dollar question....   I very much want a 2.6.2-RC firmware version that fixes this to magically show up in my inbox.  PLEASE.   scott at flhsi dot com   I promise I'll test it and provide feedback :)  We break everything here.  If it has a problem I'll find it.  Thanks

Thanks for your answer. What do you recommed me? Downgrade to earlier version ? 2.4.3 or 2.5.1?

Can you tell me when will be next release?

Tom
