Bandwidth and TCP/UDP packets

Hi,

can one explain me, why the bandwidth oscillates when sending udp or tcp packets over a canopy link:

TCP:
Client connecting to y.y.y.y, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 32.5 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[ 3] local x.x.x.x port 55995 connected with y.y.y.y port 5001
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.1 sec 2.48 MBytes 2.05 Mbits/sec

UDP:
Client connecting to y.y.y.y, UDP port 5001
Sending 1470 byte datagrams
UDP buffer size: 9.00 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[ 3] local x.x.x.x port 61173 connected with y.y.y.y port 5001
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 7.15 MBytes 6.00 Mbits/sec
[ 3] Server Report:
[ 3] 0.0-10.1 sec 6.60 MBytes 5.48 Mbits/sec 3.366 ms 395/ 5103 (7.7%)
[ 3] Sent 5103 datagrams

Any hints are welcome.

Kind regards
