Anyone have a contact number for packet shaper people?
i have had excellent support from allot…they offer the netenforcer.
one time, my box crashed…had a new one the next day. excellent and intelligent people to talk to.

I know the price, with the number of our IP’s we are using it will cost us about $30k, which is half what the shaper will cost.

I’m doing some reading currently… and I don’t know much about it, but it sounds like Cisco has a feature called NetFlow that does this sort of thing. Is anyone familiar with it?
If anyone has a very large network out there (in the 1000’s of users), you might take a look at a Sandvine box (www.sandvine.com). We have one, and it works great! And their support is outstanding.
I don’t have any first-hand experience with any other packet shapers, but this is a 1U, rack mount appliance that does everything in one box. Reports are great for looking historically at how your network is performing.

I’m not completely sure, but I don’t think that NetFlow controls traffic, I think it is for accounting and reporting traffic flow. Not so much management as monitoring…
Yes, Netflow seems to be more like a Cacti/SNMP replacement, that breaks the traffic down into sub protocols, so you can see who is using what
