Currently we are using Cacti for bandwidth and connectivity monitoring. I am looking at other solutions. Wireless Manager is an obvious choice since that should solve the PMP 320 and PTP 500 graphing problems we are having, but it’s hard to justify the cost. $10,000 + servers + labor… Whew!
Anyone have any recommendations? Also, does WM do a nice job at monitoring bandwidth usage?
WM is an absolutely terrible solution for graphing or monitoring anything. Everything is stored in a DB (very slow, doesn’t scale) and it only keeps data for 6 or 7 days.
I’d recommend another solution or pouring more effort into Cacti, making sure to keep on top of MIBs.
We use Zabbix for ours.
We use a combination of MRTG and RTG for bandwidth monitoring, smokeping for latency monitoring, as well as WhatsUp Gold for alerting.
Hi. Did you have a template for ePMP1000 for Zabbix?
Try PRTG - using the old version and works well for me.
I can second PRTG - the free version is very good, does everything just limited on sensors. Sensors arn't much to purchase however. Has in built alterting, reports, everything. Simple to setup and to use also IMO.
We use Zabbix, works very well, now i monitoring: BW, Latency, Packet loss, jitter, power level, uptime, etc
Hi Raul,
i have tried adding devices but no graphing, can you take me through this?
