Hello cambium am wondering if it was a good idea to discontinue cambium F200 that had 1G port to F200L that do have 100mbps port..this isnt a good progress according to advancing technology imagine from 1gbps to 100mbps..How i wish F200L had 1G port
Hi Robert, for what it’s worth remember that wired ethernet is full duplex, so data can go both directions simultaneously. With radio communications, it’s half duplex, so obviously data still flows both directions, but technically the radio is transmitting one direction, and then flipping in transmitting data the other direction 200 times per second.
So, that 100 MB wired ethernet is capable of carrying 100 MB download, plus 100 MB upload at the same time - which would be 200 MB aggregate on a wireless network to keep up. That will likely exceed the capacity over the air of a 200L - or very nearly so anyway.
If for example the access point is set in Fixed Frame 75% / 25% duty cycle (probably the typical ISP setting I would assume??) then the radio link would have to carry more than 133 Mbit aggregate traffic (100 Mb download + 33 megabit upload) before the 100 Mbit ethernet became the limiting factor.
So, I hear you (I am scratching my head why the ePMP 4000 APs don’t have 2.5gbit ethernet¿?) but realistically on a PtMP ePMP 1000/2000 system, over 133 Mbit aggregate on a SM is probably pretty close to the peak that a Force 200L would carry in the wild anyway.
