When using ePMP Force 4625 as a PTP link, should the subscriber end be left in the default client mode or changed to fixed mode. Your response is greatly appreciated.

Actually, when I think about it, fixed mode seems logical.

Hi @senglish ,

it has to change to a fixed client as soon as it gets GPS and AFC response.

Could you show a screenshot of Configuration \>\> Radio \>\> AFC ?

Thank you, Andri. I’m waiting for a PO. I was just planning ahead.

In watching webinars and reading the community threads on deploying Cambium 6 GHz solutions, I was led to believe that early issues of AFC sync not being provisioned on some radios has been corrected. I think that declaration was made in late 2024. I tried installing a F4625 PTP link last week and discovered the AFC sync was not provisioned on both radios. I understand that cnMaestro will automatically install the missing token but I have no Internet access nor cell coverage at the remote end and now have to take the radio down and move it to a location with Internet access. The radio was shipped to me with sw ver. 5.10.0 which I believe means my distributor has had it less than one year. In planning for the future, should I expect the issue to continue?

There are only two ways to fix the AFC token issue… onboard and update firmware via cnMaestro cloud… OR work with Cambium Support, and they will need remote access to the radios to install the token.

As to the distributor, I’d ask the distributor how old the stock is and ask for the most recent stock available to help ensure that you get radios with the token already installed.

Thanks, Eric. I got it resolved. I thought I could just take the SM down and connect it in my office to cn Maestro where I had internet. Not so. I didn’t know that the resolution would be to configure the link on both ends and then use cnMaestro at the AP to get the token first. The SM then connected to the AP and received the token without any intervention from me. All good now except (after solid alignment) my RSL is ~6 dB lower on the UL than the DL. I’ll check to make sure the SM is in fixed client mode. I think the default is standard client.

With help from Cambium support, I did get the AP and SM (ptp) to get AFC approval on the frequency I chose. The radios were part of a 4-pack and none of the radios were provisioned for AFC. The two spares will be used for backup purposes. My customer is a municipality and does not allow cnMaestro management to be used on in-production rafios after delivery. So I’m looking for suggestions on best practice to have the spares ready for quick deployment in emergency situations. I do plan to upload a running config to the spares from the radios in production but I’m assuming that the missing token will still be an issue. Any suggestions?

Hi @senglish ,

you can onboard the radios to cnMaestro only once. It will write down the AFC token. It will be enough to work with AFC without cnMaestro in the future.

As @aka mentioned, I’d create a free cnMaestro account and then temporarily onboard the e4k 6GHz radios, along with updating to the newest stable firmware revision. That will ensure the AFC token is in place, and then after that’s done, you can deboard them, and put them in inventory for deployment.
