Close Proximity SM

We have a number of 900Mhz SM’s in close proximity to our AP’s. I believe that these SM’s are desensitizing our AP’s. I have already set the SM output power to 1db. This seemed to help some, but we still have a handfull that are registered at -33 to -45. In almost all of these cases they have a clear line of site to the tower. We have already tried swapping the panel units out with a 9db Yagi and mis-aimed intentionally. This obviously results in high jitter and a poor link. We have also tried moving the SM inside, such as an attic… Anyone have a better solution for this problem?

Under sessions in your ap what is the power level for the sm? How did your link test do after you turned the pwr level to 1 ?

Lower the power on the SM so that the power level at the AP is closer to -70dB. View the power level at the AP session page, not the SM.

Example: Power level in the AP is -51dB. Lower the power output on the SM from 28dBm to 10dBm, and then look at the power from that SM in the AP sessions tab. It should be -51 - 18 = -69dB

The SM will still show -51dB in it’s status page, this is because the AP is still transmitting at 28dB., This is not a problem, as the SM only needs to see the AP.

The Above is the Session information from the AP. It is still reporting a power Level of -34 with the SM turned down to 1Dbm. Any other thoughts?

as stout as that signal is you might try one of those low db truck mounts from hyperlink. i think it is like 3 or 4 db

What antenna is that?

I think you want to try an 8dBi Maxrad panel antenna
