Texas Communications provides a sturdy galvanized Canopy cluster mount that simplifies and improves both the install process and maintenance of acluster. The mount design makes full coverage of an area more foolproof and eases installation. Your team will also enjoy the easier setup the mount enables. No matter what kind of tower you are installing on this mount can help.

thanks a lot
did u ever use that mount?

the problem with that mount woild be if i need to downtilt some of the cells

This is a site i found with a neat looking cluster bracket. Not sure where they get it from. It may have down tilt already, or you could just bend the arms a little.

A small wedge between the ASP and the bracket would take care of that I would think. We haven't needed to deploy as cluster as yet, but that should be required soon. This mount will be the one we use as it can be side mounted on an exsisting tower.

thanks a lot

But i’m afraid that the mounts mentioned are too expensive for the amount I will be needing. :frowning:

I’ve designed a cluster bracket that will mount on a tower of any width. It’s split into 2 sections (semicircle clusters) for 3 Canopys each. The sections mount close together on a 2" pipe, and farther apart on a tower section.

The sections can also be mounted independently on oposite sides of the tower, but then I have to be careful about the angular spacing. With a connecting bar through the tower, the 60-degree spacing is maintained without measuring.

The problem is producing them in quantity; I’ve been using steel, but I’d like to use aluminum. How many do you need and what is your price range?

Check out the Canopy Cluster Mounts with downtilt at http://www.tennadyne.com/trdomnt.htm

They work great!!! Speaking from experience!

We have a WISP in Tulsa, Oklahoma and are using AP’s and SM’s as Backhauls in conjunction with Tropos Mesh networking gear. Initially we directly mounted the AP’s to a vertically installed piece of PVC. We attempted to align the AP’s at exactly 60 degree angles per the Motorola documentation. We found this difficult and ran into some connectivity issues. Finally purchased some third party canopy mounts off Ebay (Mark.Hermanson@teknix.com) as Motorola didn’t have any. They have worked great, were easy to install, and most inportantly to us, each AP can be set at a different angle based on the local topology.

Just saw this on ebay

special for Canopy User Community members $99.

I have never used this, just providing the link for your info.

This is what we’re using at several site:

Available from http://www.tfmcomm.com

Do you think the lightning rod attached directly to the mount on that last one from tfmcomm is going to be a problem?

The more durable eBay links to the above two cluster mounts are:

Or find them both with:

No idea. We're using ours installed on sides of towers with 180-degree
clusters.

I build the cluster mount above with up & down tilt. I had considered adding an integral lightning rod, but decided against it primarily for n7slc’s reason: the Canopy cluster is often not mounted at the top of a pole dedicated to the cluster. Instead, I manufacture an independent lightning rod kit; the rod is attached to aluminum angle, and the angle gets clamped to the top of the pole or tower using stainless steel hose clamps.

Lightning protection, however, isn’t as simple as either I or the other manufacturer above might make it seem. My solution may, in fact, not be much better than simply letting lightning strike the top of the tower. The other mount likely fails to provide the minimum protection suggested by Motorola: 2-foot clearance below the highest metal structure. Does this mean the integral lightning rod on the circular mount above is a problem? No.

I just wanted to let those inquiring about cluster mounts that I bought a 6 AP cluster mount from Teknix and I am pleased. It is durable, has good welds, was shipped incredibly fast and was the lowest price of any adjustable mount. This is a good design. I hope you can mass produce it soon.
Don’t forget he will knock off $50 if you are a member of this forum! that’s what brought me here to the forums. So I got two bonuses
