Looking for surge suppression solution for clustered radios. Only thing I can find is the Transtector 1101-805 for about $475. I am wondering why this unit is so expensive. Is it inherently better than Moto’s single units? I mean the single surges are about $25/each, so there is a big difference between 8 x $25 = $200 and $475.
Also I question the wisdom in using a cluster unit vs. individual units. What happens if you fry one of the ports on the cluster type unit? It looks to me like all 8 ports are on the same board, so how would you “change out” the bad port?
Any comments from those who have used this or any other similar units?
