cnPilot R-Series Firmware Upgrade to 4.5-R7 Requires 2 step upgrade.

If upgrading your R-Series devices from firmware older than 4.3 to Release 4.5-R7, you must upgrade to 4.4.2-R2 before upgrading to 4.5-R7 to prevent losing connectivity to the device.  See attached Field Service Bulletin for details.

On version 4.5 there is a problem with line transfert when using Voip. *72 works to transfert line but *73 (cancel line transfert) doe'nt work.

Hi

Let me check and get back to you on this.

thanks

Why we can't access web gui when upgrading to 4.5? Need to roll back to access...Missing something?

Still waiting for a reply/solution. We notice that even on 4.4.1 with R190V, *72 does not work also...

*73 (cancelling line transfer) does not work on 4.5. This is a known issue on 4.5. We will fix this on 4.6

We have 5 units that after following these instructions we are unable to access the routers now. The units are not handing out ip address and there is no gateway . Can anyone offer some help so we can fix these routers.

Please raise a ticket on our support site https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/ . Support team will help you in recovering these units.

It looks like for us,  r200p routers at the moment, on very old fw are getting bricked to an extent when upgrading to 4.4.2. It is making you log in locally to perform another upgrade to 4.4.2, tells you there is  fw check error and to upgrade again. Has anyone found a work around for this?

Hi

can you share a screenshot of the problem.

thanks

Hi ,

You will need to do upgrade twice , if you are upgrading from any release older than 4.3.1 (4.0-R2 , 4.1-R2,4.2-R3,4.2.2-R1 and 4.2.3-R4).

The message you get is warning asking you to upgrade again. You should upgrade once more and device will come up.

So if you want to upgrade your old router to latest firmware please follow below step.

Running firmware version older than 4.3.1.

Upgrade to 4.4.2-R2 , You will get warning/error message . Login to UI and upgrade again to 4.4.2-R2.

Once device got upgraded to 4.4.2-R2, you will be able upgrade to any latest builds, without any issue.

Please let me know if you are still facing issue.

Nilesh

Hi, Nillesh. So the issue is when upgrading the routers in the field and having to upgrade twice, we are loosing access to the router until the second upgrade is done and we are having to do a truck roll to manually perform the second upgrade in the field and it’s causing some issues for us. 2step upgrade is fine but is there a way to do it so the router doesn’t crash in the field and we have to manually upload the second step locally?

Hi ,

There are many options available to upgrade router.

1. Manual

2. SNMP. (Need tftp/http server reachable from router)

3. cnMaestro (Internally does the upgrade twice).

4.Through "Upgraderule" in Provision tab.  (Need tftp/http server reachable from router)

Please let me know , From which version you are trying to upgrade and whcih of above methode you prefer .

Regards,

Nilesh
