cnPilot R201 5ghz disppearing on firmware 4.6

This happens to every single R201P we tested all deployed that matches below description and symptom

Symptom

- 5ghz will disappear after router turn on, cannot see on mobile of laptop wifi scanner. Also 5ghz LED light is off on router
- 2.4ghz is there
- Once you change something on the wireless 5ghz tab like frequency or radio on/off and it will tell you it's trying to save. The 5ghz will show up and be working and also 5ghz LED light will be on.
- But once you reboot the router, it will disappear and you will have to do the step above to get it working.

So below test is to find out what is going on

TEST (no mobile/laptop connected to router via wifi)
load our pre-configured config file
change PPPoE U&P/Wifi, the router rebooted itself
firmware is on 4.4.2-R2, 2.4ghz and 5ghz working ok.

Upgrade the firmware to 4.6-R8, 5ghz disappeared and LED light is off on the router. 2.4ghz is ok
Reboot router, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz disappeared
Change manually on 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency channel, both show up working ok
Reboot router, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz disappeared

Downgrade the firmware to 4.4.2-R2, 2.4ghz and 5ghz working ok and LED light are on.
Now upgrade the firmware to 4.6-R16, 2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"

so I took WAN cable off from the router and power cycle the router
I can see both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and it's ok to connect. But no Internet because WAN cable is unplugged.
Just to be sure
I power cycle the router again and I can see both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and both LED lights are on.

Now plug the WAN cable back in and power cycle the router
2.4ghz is there, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light is off on the router
making changes to 5ghz channel bandwidth to 20 from 20/40
Now I can see both 2.4ghz and 5ghz working ok and LED light are on.
Making changes will bring them back up so now I power cycle the router again
2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"

To check that weirdness again I unplug the WAN cable and power cycle the router again
I can see both 2.4ghz and 5ghz working ok and LED light are on.

Try something different this time to have 1 mobile device connected to 5ghz
Turn off router, plug WAN cable back in
2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"
so it doesn't make any difference

I apply this which was found on the forum (don't think it's the same fix but why not try it)

-2.4ghz on 20mhz channel only.
-Set "Operating Mode" to "Greenfields" on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
-Turn on A-MSDU on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
-Try turning off "TX Burst" in advanced on 2,4ghz and 5ghz
and now soft reboot router
2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"

Try making additional changes to 5ghz Network mode to 11vht AC/AN from 11vht AC/AN/A
same result
2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"

One thing I notice is that on the router status 5ghz's current channel status will show Channel 1, like it's dead

Change 5ghz Network mode to 11a/h mixed mode and power cycle the router
same result
2.4ghz is working, but 5ghz disappeared and LED light on router is off on "5G"

Another thing I notice is that after the power cycle and while waiting for the router to come back on (local ping to 192.168.11.1 still unreachable)
Both 2.4ghz and 5ghz are broadcasting and then when router is reachable locally that is when 5ghz went offline

Last step is change the firmware back to 4.4.2 which I know it works.
With so many little changes on the wifi tab, firmware 4.4.2-R2 still works ok

No solution from Cambium? :)

You can see the complain on the R201P everywhere on the forum and firmware 4.5 onwards

Just to give you guys more information.

The reason I said only 4.4.2 works because on 4.5 you will encounter performance issue where you will find the other thread that talks about how to resolve you wifi performace on firmware 4.5.

I already have so many devices deployed I dont really want to change a working configuration, so that is why it's easier for me to downgrade to 4.4.2 and only upgrade when Cambium fix the issue.

I found the best solution

we are moving away everything from Cambium from their PTPs, Home Routers and cnMaestro
