Hi,

PTP 650 works strictly as a Point to point radio. For Point to multipoint, you can deploy our PMP 450 or ePMP family of products.

Thanks,

Sriram

dear sriram,

agreed but my query in terms of Multipoint to Point Achitecture  not point to multipoint .

also share  packect per second handling capacity in PTP650 radio.

Hi,

I'm not sure what the difference is between point to multipoint and mulitpoint to point. Are you referring to redundancy?

The Packets Per Second of a PTP 650 is >850K.

Thanks,

Sriram

I remember some talk about a "Point to some point" option  , i think in the ptp700 launch webinar.

Don't know how is the development of this tough.

We plan to provide a high capacity muiltipoint (HCMP) feature for PTP 700 in a future release. The HCMP feature will provide high spectral efficiency with a small number of slaves connected to one master. This is a somewhat different application from the one addressed by ePMP and PMP 450.

There are no plans to make the HCMP feature available on the PTP 650.

In PTP 650/700 the data path is entirely in hardware and there is effectively no limit on packet processing rate other than the basic capacity of the link. As Sriram points out, at the highest capacity (about 450 Mbits/s) and 64 byte Ethernet frames, this is equivalent to about 850,000 frames per second.

You might also be referencing a technique we call multi point to point or 'group access'.  In this technique you deploy multiple PTP masters on a tower with either sector or omni antennas.  You then define a group access name so that any slave device with the same group name can connect to the master.  This is typically used in applications with a number of nomadic vehicles in a region but never more than a couple active at any one time. Group access is an optional feature in the PTP 650.

OR you might be referring to synchronization of multiple PTP links from a common tower or mast.  This can be done with the PTP SYNC module with or without a 1PPS source to synchronize the TDD frames in the air interface reducing self-interference.
