Customers accessing the SMs

This may have been asked, but I couldnt find a thread pertaining to it directly.

Is it common practice to allow subscribers access to their administrative interfaces? It would seem that is counterproductive. What is the purpose of this? It seems like alot of posts here are subscribers who are troubleshooting their own link, Do alot of you offer subscribers access and training for this or how does this work out?

It would be wise to keep the customer out of your gear!


I think it’s a cop-out on the part of the WISP. They don’t know how to fix a link so they give the customer access and tell then "good luck"

i think its extremely bad practice. A “know it all” subscriber who has even the slightest access to your network could be the end of it all.
