Hi there, Is there a way to detect the traffic coming from the ethernet port of an ePMP Subscriber module when using Bridge
network mode?
Typically, I provide routers to customers, and I expect those routers to be directly connected to the ethernet port of the SM, and, because I’m using Bridge
network mode and I’ve a DHCP server, I make the IP assignation static for each particular router.
However, if a customer connects another device that isn’t what I’ve provided, such new device will get another IP from the DHCP server and I will have to re-configure few things, like internet shaping.
I know that I can use PPPoE to have an extra authentication layer to avoid unknown devices to be plugged to the network, but I’m trying to avoid that additional overhead.
What is particularly tricky, is that, the new non-provided router
can be from any brand, and it’s obviously not showing in cnMaestro, which makes hard for me to identify to which SM that new router/IP belongs to.
So, I’m wondering if I can identify to which SM a particular router belongs to, based on the IP address, by inspecting network traffic. Is that possible? Ideas? Thanks!
