DNS Resolver in PTP 670/700

In PTP 600-02-60 and PTP 700-02-60, the Management Agent embedded in the ODU supports use of an external Domain Name Service (DNS). DNS allows you to configure the network address of network management servers as a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). The management agent then uses DNS to resolve FQDN to IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.

The following server addresses can be configured as a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN):

  • RADIUS Server
  • SMTP Server
  • SNMP Trap
  • SNTP Server
  • Syslog Server
  • TFTP Server

Here's an example of configuring a trap receiver as a FQDN:

The ODU allows you to configure a primary DNS server and optionally a second DNS server. Configuration is in the LAN Configuration page like this:
