The maximum distance really depends on what part of the 5GHz band is being used and what regulatory EIRP limits your region requires. I’d use LinkPlanner online to get a better idea of what distances and throughput can be achieved in your region. As an example, in the USA/FCC region, using the 5.8GHz portion of the band, and using an F4525 client, you could probably go out around 10 miles and still have good throughput. This is due to the fact the 4500 integrated has around 6dB of beamforming gain, and the F4525 is allowed a higher EIRP for uplink TX power in the 5.8GHz portion of the band.

As to what antennas you can use with the 4500c, you could use sector antennas, horn antennas, pretty much any antenna you wanted depending on what your coverage goals are. There have been a few recent discussions on 4500c antennas and use cases if you do a search. Here’s one to get you started:
