ePMP Software Release 5.11.0 is now available

I am still seeing on a couple 4625 radios where anything above 5.11 rc54 has a horrible upload signal versus anything RC54 and lower.

Just installed one new out of the box and on 5.11 the upload signal at the AP at 11 DB transmit power was negative 74. downgraded to RC 54 and the upload signal at the same transmit power on the AP side was -60.

So far I have seen this on two 4625 SMs that were installed in different times so they should be from different batches. I have not upgraded all my hundred plus SM’s to 5.11 yet so I’m not sure how widespread this issue is.

Same issue here, probably 5 so far out of 80 with the drop in uplink signal.

I have the same problem with the latest firmware.

I downgraded.

I’ve looked at 5 of our APs (4600) and the download/upload RSSI values are mostly within 3db to 5db of each other, with only one or two as much as 8db apart and one or two 9db apart. The upload RSSI at the AP is always lower than the download RSSI at the SM (4625), and the same with MCS numbers, of course because the AP antennas that we’re using are only 17db gain.

I did notice that one AP shows all of the upload MSC numbers to be SS0, which is not correct. Uploads are fine on this site. I’ll have to reboot the AP to see if that corrrects this.

Other than the above ā€˜odd’ display, this new version 5.11.0 seems to be working great for us with no problems. We have 18 4600s and 387 4625s.

Hello @Nathan_Niblett and @zica49,

Would you happen to have technical support files from the AP and SM when the RSSI appears low on version 5.11.0?

Additionally, could you please confirm whether the issue persists after performing a downgrade followed by an upgrade?

Thank you

I can provide you with some support files, I just downgraded the SM to 5.10.4 leaving the AP on 5.11 and that fixed it. Here you can see the reduced signal on upgrade to 5.11 and jumps back up to normal on 5.10.4.I have not attempted to update again to 5.11 Although I have been watching for comment on this thread. https://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t/reduced-signal-strength-on-5-11-0-rc63-beta/108232/6

Have you tried upgrading to 5.11 RC54 beta? For me on SMs that do this any version 5.11RC54 or lower are fine. Any version 5.11RC63 or higher have the bad upload signal.

So something changed between RC54 and RC63 that is triggering this in select 4625 SMs.

any updates on this issue? somone has figure out how to fix it?

Are you experiencing the same issue?
We do have the workaround that can be applied on flight.
Thanks

I just ran into one 4625 that is broken on upload signal but Rc54, Rc59, and the test fw I was given doesn’t fix it like my other 4625 sm. Had to roll back to 5.10.4.

Hi Fedor not yet, I don’t want to update firmware until I get confirmation firmware is working correctly, that is the reason I was asking

We have some updates regarding the issue where throughput tests to a single SM do not achieve maximum throughput when background traffic is present on other SMs within a heavily loaded sector.

We are currently testing an alpha firmware build that includes significant improvements for this scenario, and it should be available for customer testing by the end of the week.

The improvements will also be included in the 5.12.0 Beta release, which is planned for later this month.

Thanks

That is good to hear. Is that in relation to the ā€œscalingā€ issue some are seeing like myself and @Eric_Ozrelic ?

I have also noticed higher ping on SMs on a 4500. The 2 sectors, before we upgraded to 4500s, were 2 3000s and ping was much better, same amount of SMs, just swapped a few e3k SMs for some 4525 so we are mixed with ax and ac. When I test to ping from 4500 AP I get 43ms to google and if testing from SM it’s 60-70ms, no matter how busy or not busy the sector is
