Ethernet Switches

What ethernet switches is everyone using? We’ve been using HP1600m’s for our wireless network, but have been having problems with loosing ports. So we’re thinking about moving on and buying some new switches. Can anyone suggest a good ethernet switch? We need 802.1q support.

Thanks

Cisco Catalyst 2900XL is a good minimum starting point, 10/100 ports and 802.1q trunking support. What I'm running just about everywhere. Only down side is they're still relatively expensive.

Whatever you do, DON'T try using the Linksys SRW224. They like to lock up for no apparent reason, and require an onsite power-cycle. Ouch.

I am using Alcatel Omniswitch 6624’s

I maintain a VLAN installation that began several years ago with three 3Com 3300s, and has grown to about twenty 3300s, 4400s, and a 4900. Eleven 802.1q VLANs are configured in these switches and a Cisco router; a 3Com router was used initially.

The VLANs have worked flawlessly.
