F425 - Firmware 5.8 - Throughput drops to <1mbps every 10 minutes or so

Hi,

We’ve been using the F425 radios for a while now without any issues (5.1.3 was the last release we deemed stable and have been on it for a while) - however, we just put a link up on 5.8 to test that release and ran into some issues immediately.

Radios are ePTP mode. While on the 5.8 release, the throughput would drop to <1mbps every 10 minutes or so. We messed with the frequencies for a bit thinking it was interference, but this would happen even on a completely clear channel. Another odd thing is that the remote end of the link would become inaccessible, same with the gateway router at that end.

Once we disabled the link and kicked the remote site over to its backup, both issues went away.

I downgraded the 425s to 5.1.3 and re-enabled the link, and boom, issues still gone. It’s been chugging along for a good hour now without the issues popping up again.

Really we should have grabbed a tsf from the radios while still on 5.8, but our priority was to get the link up and working first.

Has anybody seen this before? Its a rather odd issue and I almost don’t believe its firmware-related, but downgrading did fix it…

We upgraded a 400c backhaul link from 5.1.3 to 5.8.0 and throughput dropped dramatically along with packetloss and high latency under any load. The downlink/uplink rates are all over the place. Downlink quality and capacity also are all over from 0% to 100% as I watch it. Same frequency and channel width. The only thing I changed it the firmware. I’ll have to downgrade ASAP.

Yeah. 5.8.0 is a stinker. We tried 5.9.1 too and we had 2 F425 slaves stop responding to snmp or cnMaestro. 4 other links we upgraded to 5.9.1 without issue but man it is getting tiresome having something else break every new release.
