Floating license server

Hi  Cambium

Any news on when the floating license server will be available?

Development of floating licesne enablement is underway but we do not yet have a projected availablity.  As we advance development and have greater confidence in commercial availablity we will follow-up.

Any news yet?  Will this get integrated into Maestro?

Hi,

Floating Licensing feature has been delivered as Beta feature in 3.5 Release which is already available on Web-site.

For now it is not integrated with cnMaestro, but I don't think it will cause any troubles for you, mechanism is pretty simple.

Thank you.

How do we take advantage of this flexable license server when we've already purchased and applied licenses onto AP's?

Can we convert into a flexable mode? This would make things a lot easier when we can fallback users onto one AP temporaraly during upgrades or changes instead of having them fail to connect due to no licenses available.

Also, since the AP's need to communicate with the license server I am hoping you plan to provide a proxy bit of software so that we are able to use private IP address space for our radios.

Also curious how existing AP licenses will be returned to the pool for the floating license group.

Will be a huge relief when this is working as the current solution is cumbersome and awkward at best.

Official Flexible Licensing support will be available starting mid of October.

Existing Licenses will be converted to Flexible through requests to Cambium Support Team.

Thank you.

I have a suggestion... instead of adding a large burden on your support staff by having everyone that purchased elevate licences contact you about every AP they have the licences on to have you move them over to floating individually... (we alone have over 50 that would need all the licences move over...We have no reason to leave the licences on any AP when we have the float available) Why not just have the AP's  connecting to the floating server send the licence or the number of elevate licences they have to the floating server? that would add the current licences to the pool. you could do a quick licences check to verify the amount of elevates the AP has. you can also have the AP check in from time to time to verify amount in the pool..

Having the support staff do everything manually seems extremely cumbersome... it took several days to just transfer from one AP to another.
