Force 4600c Backhaul (Row version)

Backhaul Experiences with Force 4600c

Performance and Distance

The experiences with the Force 4600c for backhaul have been very positive, covering distances from 17 km to 30 km. For optimal performance, it is crucial to align using a 20 MHz channel width on a mid-to-high frequency (starting from 6700 MHz). This helps in determining the beam width depending on the antenna’s aperture. To keep the chains balanced and minimize degradation when expanding the channel width to 160 MHz (in accordance with the country’s regulations), proper alignment is key.

Antennas Used for PTP Backhaul

In most cases, NetPoint antennas are being utilized for PTP backhaul. For the lower frequency band (4900 to 6425 MHz), the following models are recommended:

  • NP5-DP-2FT (NP62): 18 miles (30 km)
  • NP5-DP-3FT (NP63): 25 miles (42 km)
  • NPX5-SHP-4FT (NPX3): 50 miles (80 km)
  • NPX5-SHP-6FT (NPX4): over 50 miles (over 80 km)

These options ensure reliable performance over varying distances and frequency ranges.

High-Band Antennas for Full Radio Bandwidth

For higher frequency bands or to utilize the full radio bandwidth, we can use the 6 GHz antennas covering 5.9 to 7.2 GHz, specifically the NP6-DP series:

Models & Distances

  • NP6-DP-2FT (NP62): 18 miles (30 km)
  • NP6-DP-3FT (NP63): 25 miles (42 km)
  • NP6-SDP-4FT (NP64): 50 miles (80 km)
  • NP6-SDP-6FT (NP66): over 50 miles (over 80 km)

Oh wow that is very impressive, unfortunately most of us in NA will not be able to get that kind of throughput at those distances.

I think we can use larger antennas to reduce the output power or take full advantage of it, I hope soon to have the final tests of some deployments to give you a formula that is good for the growth of ISPs.
