GPS issue with 5.11?

We installed a 4600 about a week ago and installed 1 SM. Seemed to run fine for a week then lost GPS sync. (It’s about 35’ high on a Rohn 45 nowhere near any other RF). A reboot didn’t fix it. Status showed that it didn’t see the antenna, so replaced the antenna and still no GPS after a couple reboots. Downgraded to 5.10.4 and GPS started working.

We haven’t started upgrading the rest of our network to 5.11 yet and now I’m hesitant to do so.

Also, looks like a GUI glitch. The AP showed that it was still transmitting and 1 SM connected when it wasn’t connected and pretty sure it wasn’t transmitting without GPS.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a support file before downgrading. I will have to upgrade again then wait until it happens again.

We haven’t received any reports of GPS-related issues with the 5.11 firmware.

The Tech Support Files from 5.10.4 would also provide valuable data for our analysis. If you’re able to send them, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen something odd with GPS on some 4600s recently. We’re running 5.11.0 on everything.

We have four 4600s on one site (a water tower), right up on top, about 140 ft AGL.

The GPS signals are very different between the different 4600s. One 4600 in particular shows very low signal and one 4600 shows very high signal with the other two in between.

We switched the ethernet cable from CAT5E to CAT6A this past week and when we did, three of the 4600s regained GPS very quickly (within a minute or less) but the one with the weakest signal took 10 or 15 minutes to regain ‘lock’. We’ve thought that the GPS receiver in that 4600 might have a problem, but all four of the 4600s have very different GPS strengths, that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I was going to open a ticket with Cambium and provide the tech support files for all four 4600’s. I can do that later this afternoon.
