I am interested in simplifying cabling for a residential canopy. The PoE is not really PoE, it uses the wall wart and hardwires the power pass through in the midspan box. I am thinking I could use the AG5100 (Silvertel) which is 802.3at compliant from the PSE, and provides a 12vdc or 24vdc output upto 30w. Then, at the home/power location, I would put a standard PoE, in the midspan I would use a PoE passthrough, followed by the AG5100, and then on to the canopy. If this works, I could use standard PoE PSEs and Extenders to the last leg for maximized distance.
Has this been tried by anyone?
