having to force sms and aps from 100 megabit to 10 megabit

We’ve been having problems with out units. Typically, we have sm’s that cannot log onto the network at all or in some cases, we’re seeing re-regs that last several minutes but dont’ show up as re-regs once the unit is registered. We also have access points that do this as well. Last night we had our main tower decide to go out completely. Based on previous exerience we turned it down to 10 megabit and the problem resolved.

What is causing this?

What software and FPGA version are you running?

Have you put a sniffer on the network to see if something is causing an overwhelming amount of traffic? Do you use anything to graph your network utilization? How did the ethernet counters look prior to going down to 10 Mbps?

“We use MRTG. Our graphs are publically available at

“dunno”.

(select ethernet stats from the left side of the AP…current numbers on
grandview are : 1084751910
southpark is: 424802897

these counters are reset whenever the AP is restarted.
