HELP, How to upgrade properly

I have an old OFDM installed 2 sm’s 10.1.1 and 10.0.0, ap is 10.1.1, but when i went to start getting them upgraded, i noticed the 10.2 release notes says "upgrade SM’s first!"

If i try to upgrade SM’s first i get an error saying

I take it this is because to get to the SM you have to go via the AP, not direct as the SM’s are not directly accessible from our NOC, does this mean we have to go onsite to these old 10.1.1 clients and upgrade them to 10.2 onsite? Instead of the standard “upgrade the ap and let it diseminate it” …

is this only for 10.2? Please help

Chris,
It appears you are trying to upgrade your OFDM radios with CNUT via the LUID. If you try to add in the OFDM SM directly via the IP address (e.g. 172.16.8.199) and then do the upgrade.

If this is not possible, try to setup auto-update on the AP that these SMs are registered to, and let the AP update them.

Cant do the first one as the SM’s dont have ip addresses assigned.

"If this is not possible, try to setup auto-update on the AP that these SMs are registered to, and let the AP update them."

but 10.2 says that the SM’s have to be upgraded before the AP (i dont think i see this anywhere else on the newer versions) but in 10.2 release notes it has a section where it says to upgrade SM’s before, so i figured upgrading the AP and letting the AP update the SM’s would be a no-no
