Hi,
Today I install 1 ap and 1 sm EPMPI (point to pint) but i think that the average ping time is very high ( 10-15 ms) the distance betwen the anttenas is only 300 meters. This situation is normal?
I replaced a tplink anttenas in the same lacations and the average ping time was ( 2-3 ms)
Thank You
Marcos
Hi Marcos,
If you are using one of the fixed ratios (75/25, 50/50 or 30/70) then this is normal. This is the TDD (Time Division Duplex) scheduler in ePMP that allows GPS synchronization and scalability compared to other competing 802.11 based products in the market. The competing products will provide low latency in a simple test on a point to point link under ideal conditions, but once this link is over longer distances and is in the presence of interference, the latency will start to spike. Those systems become even worse in a PMP scenario with multiple subscribers. ePMP provides superior throughput than competing products under similar conditions.
With ePMP, for a point to point link, consider using “Flexible” mode (under Configuration->Radio) which will drop the latency down to 5-6 ms. This is a recommended setting for PTP links. In Q4 2014, there will be a new software release which will drop the latency even further (around 2 ms) for PTP links.
Thanks for answer.
I have same scenario and too with same 'problem', although is not a real problem.
If use Flexible mode, latency down, but i preffer a stable link.
