High Ping times 5780BH50US

I recently installed two links with 5780BH50US, I was using 5700BH20. Seems like the ping times went from 1-5ms to averaging 20-23ms. We realigned the link to make sure it had its best alignment possible. I swap back to the 5700BH20 and the ping times go back down, then install the new radios and they ping times go back up.

Am I assuming with the higher throughput of these radios that the latency is higher?

Also the link distances are 1.8 miles and 14.6 miles.

Thoughts?

Post your link stats

we have two sets running both hit between 2-4 ms pinging thru the link, are you pinging the slave its self? try hitting an ap past it.

also what modulation are you at with SnR? … if your in 3x with 16 ot 17 noise ratio, drop your modulation down to 2x, will improve your times… a link test would help us help you… and knowing your cnr

if you are using a 20mhz channel… thats not right, you should have a much higher thruput than that,or those radio didn’t hold 3x for that test.

we get a solid 50mb each test from ours. (20mhz channel)

change your channel if you can, make sure its timed if you are reusing the freq, and our cyclic prefix is 1/16 for added speed.

also full power isn’t all ways best, try to hit about 50 db if you can, don’t go below that.
again too, make sure you are pinging past the BH, ODFM modulation needs more CPU to encode/decode which will cause a slave BH to respond slower than the actual link latency.
