How high on a tower?

How high can I set APs on a tower? We have access to a tower that’s over 900ft high and currently have a set that’s about 200ft up on a seperate tower, but was just wondering how high we could actually go with this one. The main issue would be power to the CMM. Do any of you have experience with this?

Max length for your CAT5 runs from the radio to whatever you plan on terminating to is 328 feet.

I have CAT5 F2TP cable long 150 m from the router to the CMM, it’s working. The power cable sohould not be a problem. If some AP is rebooting, or some parts of the cluster are not working just replace it with larger one.

You can test this anytime on the ground…

You could always run power wire up to a CMM2 @ 650ft and then run a network cable the rest of the way for the cluster. It would suck for maintance on it though. That’s a long climb…

One thing you will need to consider is the downtilt needed to get to Sms that are close in to the tower - since the beamwidth on the Aps is 60 deg. vertical and horizontal.
