How to measure & manage volume of data per customer?

Real Novice Here!
We can’t find a way to measure customers data usage per month. We will install a CCM micro, through Cisco router to an authentication server but am told this will not measure data, although it does for dial-up users.
We pay through the nose for volume so would also want to set cap for customers monthly usage.

The easiest and cheapest way is to look at the Ethernet Stats page on the SM. The “inoctets Count” is bytes received at the ethernet port of the radio. The “outoctets Count” is bytes transmitted out the ethernet port. The bad part about this is the number return to zero at each reboot. So, if the customer for some reason powers down their SM on the 15th of the month, then you lose the stats for that period.

Otherwise, you would need to have something in the way of an accounting device through which all of your traffic flows. Something like the NetEnforcer with NetAccountant, or the Packeteer (not sure if that does accounting or not).

MRTG will collect bandwidth from each Canopy SM, AP and BH and graph usage for the day, week, month and year. You can also use MRTG to graph usage of your router.
