Ice on 120 and 360 Antennas

Does anyone have any solutions for ice buildup on 120 and 360 antennas? We have a mountain top site at 9200ft and as earlier as 9/18 we have already have had ice problems. :frowning:

Have you tried waxing the antenna’s? Not entirely sure if it will cause problems or not. We used some light car wax on some 18" dishes for a 2.4/5.8 converted backhaul one year. It seemed to work alright.

I suggest testing a waxed antenna OFF your network to make sure. Gas will remove the wax if it causes problems.

Of course I would expect any heating elements to change the radiation patterns of the antennas. A number of antenna manufacturers use black anodization on the radiating elements to combat icing - seems to work. Not sure if flat black paint would have the same effect.

put a 20 or 30 watt amp on it lol j/k who knows though

Wow, you are in for a long winter.

They probably have a solution
