is AP need a PowerSupply when conecting it to CMM ?? -Help

is it possible not to use a PowerSUpply when connecting the AP to CMM?

can AP work without his powersupply and direct-connecting it to CMM?

Because we i’ve connected my AP’s to the CMM using his Powersupply…

-i’m just new in canopy… advice please… : )

If I understand you correctly, you are asking if it is possible to power AP units via the CMM.

This is its intended design. The 8 port switch in the CMM provides power over ethernet.

You can find a wealth of information in the documentation…

So you mean i can connect the AP-module directly to the CMM without its Adaptor/Powersupply ? I have tried that once but the AP’s don’t work. Because it doesn’t have power.

But i have seen the interface of my CMM the 1-8 ports and below of this is button. When i click that button it becomes “red” and it shows “POWERED” is that what i have to do? to click the button to become “POWERED” ??

thnx for the reply and for the link!! : )
god bless!!!

Although Canopy doesn’t advise it, there is a way you can get the sync and power up on one cable. The end of the cable at the base station will have 2 rj45 jacks. One will have the pins for power, the other for sync. You then send both power/sync up the cable.

It sounds like you've almost got it. From the web interface, you can turn on power to each port on the switch (Configuration page, each port has its own "power" checkbox). One you've got the right ports checked, click "save changes" and that should do it.

Once you've got that, the red "power" light should come on on the "status" page of the web interface as well as the red LED on the switch port itself.

That's it.

Take care,

hehehehe… : )

i should try that…

Thanks so much!
