MAC address modification?

Just to be sure: is there any remote possibility to modify the MAC address of an SM (e.g with some obscure CLI command)?

Thanks.

Try http://<ip-address-of-module>/mac.html

Oh, no!!!!

So it's not possible to do authentication or filtering based on MAC address only... :(

What a pity!

the page mac.html wont do nothing.
You can’t do mac auth unless each sm is in nat mode.
sm not doing NAT are pretty much invisible.

Are you saying that the "Store MAC Address to Flash" button doesn't do anything???

But I want to provide all the SMs and routers, so I could deny access to the unknown MAC addresses. But it make sense only if MAC addresses cannot be cloned...

Bye.

msmith,

What other options are available?
Engineering, Test, etc.

Not sure. Back in the beginning of Canopy when the radios had to be manually calibrated thats the URL you went to and I remembered seeing settings for MAC addresses.

I would search the post archive here on the forum. There has been discussion of this before. I have never tried it myself. Just had a fogged memory.

you cant change the MAC addresses they are held in one time write only EPROM :frowning:
