Migrating a standard WiFi System using ePMP SM WiFi Mode

Wireless service providers and enterprises need reliable, high-quality broadband connectivity which is not always possible with Wi-Fi based solution. Cambium Networks introduces a simple way to upgrade Wi-Fi (proprietary Wi-Fi) system with ePMP solution. The new ePMP platform provides stable coverage across large service areas and enhances your existing infrastructure.

ePMP supports an impressive 230 Mbps throughput to deliver bandwidth-intensive services such as VoIP (Voice over IP), video and data to end users across multiple vertical markets. The ePMP is optimized for outdoor applications, offering connectivity up to 13 miles with one efficient PTP and PMP integrated radio.

Main reasons to update your network with ePMP:
• GPS Synchronization for seamless scalability, minimal self-interference and frequency reuse.
• Best in-class throughput with high number of subscribers
• Quality of Service (QoS) ensures superior consistency and integrity for VoIP (Voice over IP), video and data services.
• Reliability is provided by quality components that have been rigorously field tested to minimize service requirement and maximize performance.

Conditions to update
It is possible to upgrade any system which can work in pure Wi-Fi mode. With firmware version 2.3 ePMP Station Module can support pure Wi-Fi mode to provide inter vendor interoperability. The basic idea is to swap existing Wi-Fi based subscribers with ePMP SM. After all Subscribers are changed to ePMP SMs operator can install ePMP Access Point and change mode of operation to ePMP TDMA to get the best out of the network.

It is possible to change SM operational mode via SNMP by triggering appropriate SNMP OID on all SMs using SNMP Browser:
