Network Site - Change Request

Hi Team,

I am a power user of Link Planner and love the tool. However I would like to request a new feature for adding Mounts.

Once you add a Network Site, I would like to be able to add Mount/Pole Locations within the site and assign Radios/Antenna's to it.

For Example:

If I say had a site called Adelaide Tower, and it had 4 mounts on it but the building is rather large and the mounts are all 20+m apart currently I can not get accurate data.

So I would like to be able to assign a Radio/Antenna per mount with the Network site. Then use the Best Server Analysis to assess which radio/antenna it is to go on.

Same when you create a PTP, it would be great if you selected the Network site then the Mount it is to be installed on.

Also by doing this I can then use the google maps feature to view my coverage, and by doing so visualise where I have gaps or how much overlap.

Currently I need to add a Network site per mount to do this and it is a pain to deal with.

This will make the report alot more accurate also.

Happy to discuss or do a demonstation of what is needed in a meet if I have not made it clear on what I would like.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

This is a feature request that has come up before and we are happy to let you know that it is already implemented in LINKPlanner from V5.0.0 onwards. You can adjust the mount locations for each radio up to 100m away from the central hub location. The 100m is based on the recommended Ethernet line length from your central switch location.

You can set the position for each mount in two ways:

  • On the Access Point Equipment Page in the Access Point Details pane you can edit the Latitude and Longitude and it will show you the offset from the hub site location, if you later want to put it back to the hub location simply select Reset.

  • Windows users can also move the AP in the Google Maps view, zoom in close to the site you want to adjust select the sector and then click on the white circle and drag it to where you want it to go. With the Satellite view enabled this allows you to place the mounts at the positions you want on a building. It will show the offset as you drag. There is no quick reset on the map view, so if you want to get back to the exact hub coordinates it is easier to use the equipment view.

In both cases once you have moved the mount location if you already have subscribers attached it will automatically request the new profiles to the new location and update the sector.

At the same time we have also added the ability to move the hub site location after you have subscribers connected and to move the end points of PTP links and in each case LINKPlanner will automatically update all profiles.

I hope that this gives you what you are looking for.

Regards,

Rachel
