Looks like you are manipulating with comments on that thread.
My comment was about the feature that allows to exclude SMs from grouping to achieve better RSSI because of the Beamforming.
UL MU-MIMO is on the roadmap.

Thank you.

My apologies. I misunderstood what you were referencing. I meant to reference this quote where it seemed that Uplink MU was still up in the air on if it would be implemented. I meant no disrepect.

I just remember getting burned by Ubiquiti on their LTU products where they intially said there would be OFDMA and Asymmetrical channel sizes and other features just for them to never talk about them again or implement them and they even went back and removed them from all promotional literature.

I am still new to Cambium.

Apologies for not being entirely clear. DL MU-MIMO was prioritized for delivery first, as it has a greater impact on the product compared to UL MU-MIMO.

Thank you.

As I am still new to Cambium and MU-MIMO, will UL MU-MIMO be doable with the existing antenna or will we have to add the Band Steering Antenna for UL MU-MIMO to work?

Why is your downlink max rate fixed at MCS7 instead of auto? Why do you not having MU-MIMO enabled?

because I’m following the instructions above this chat, in the AP 4500 with mode WLR i have the downlink max rate fixed at MCS7 and is working.

now with AP 4500 mode TDD, i did the changes:

still NOT working

Are you using a 4500 8x8 integrated AP? Are you using TDD mode with a fixed duty cycle… e.g. 75/25? Are you using the dual SM link test feature and using two SM’s that are on opposite sides of the azimuth of the antenna?

Hello @drevilla79,

could you reset statistics, execute WLT 2-3 times and send me your techsupport file from AP and 2 SMs?

Hi Eric, I am a little confuse. I have 1 AP 45008x8 set up on 80mhz with beamforming enable and 50 force30025L. Planning to migrate users in the future but in the meantime what is the best option to have enable: beamforming or mumimo?

I have Mu-Mimo running on several of our sites at this point. I’ll be turning it on, on the rest of the sites later today or tonight.

The results have been very good. I’m extremely pleased with how it’s performing. On a 40 mhz wide channel, I’m seeing speed increases on download of 20 to 30 percent and on an 80 Mhz channel, I’ve seen speed increases of at least 10 percent, if no more. I don’t know if that’s in line with what we should be seeing or not. What would be ‘normal’?

I’ve seen no problems in any of our testing, although I don’t use functionality such as SNMP. But basic operation of the software appears to me to be great. I’m really looking forward to Mu-Mimo for upload.

So can I have more explanation of how MU-MIMO works? I have a 4500 AP with only 2 SMs connected to the AP and they meet the MU-MIMO conditions. I know that because if I do a dual SM link test the AP shows 100% of the DL traffic is MU-MIMO DL.

AP is 75/25 5ms 40mhz

However if I have SM 1 set to a constant 10Mbps TCP download using the Mtik bandwidth test tool and then have SM 2 do a link test the AP show near 0Mbps MU-MIMO traffic and a total of 345Mbps DL.

If I increase SM 1 to doing a constant 100Mbps TCP download and run a link test on SM 2 the AP shows 23Mbps is MU-MIMO traffic and a total of 355Mbps.

If I increase SM 1 to doing a 200Mbps TCP download and do a link test on SM2 the AP shows 273Mbps is MU-MIMO DL and a total DL of 447Mbps.

If I increase SM 1 to doing a 300Mbps TCP download and do a link test on SM2 the AP shows 591Mbps is MU-MIMO DL and a total DL of 591Mbps.

What I also see is that the overall DL bandwidth results of SM 2 increases as I increase the bandwidth load on SM 1 so that SM 2 gets a better DL link test results as SM 2 pushes more data.

So is there some bandwidth flow amount, AP load amount, or frametime % that triggers MU-MIMO?

When to 3000 came out and these questions were asked about MU-MIMO, the answer was basically “if the AP can deliver the requested data in SU mode, then that’s what it will do first.” So basically, it’s not going to use MU mode unless there’s a reason to.

So, it’s automatic, and it’s essentially “free extra capacity” when the AP has more requests than SU mode can provide.

Not that you’d want to set things this way this - but you’ll see that ‘threshold’ hit more often on a 20mhz channel than a 40 or 80mhz channel - and you’ll see that threshold hit more often on a 50/50 duty cycle than on a 75/25 duty cycle. So - if you’re experimenting to see how much green line you can see, you’ll find that it’ll need to use MU-MIMO more often the worse your AP is set-up.
